In this module you’ll build your communication skills. You'll learn about key ideas in psychology, including classical, historical, and ethical topics. You’ll explore different areas of psychology and learn how to ask and answer research questions using proper methods.

In this module, you’ll explore key topics in cognitive and biological psychology. You’ll learn how to use statistics and research methods beyond the basics. You’ll also carry out your own study, analyse the results, and explain what they mean using quantitative methods.

You’ll explore key ideas in social and developmental psychology. You’ll also build your skills in qualitative research, going beyond the basics. You’ll carry out your own study, look at the results, and explain what they mean using methods that focus on personal experiences and detailed analysis.

You'll develop counselling skills through experiential learning. Reflect and critically evaluate your counselling skills during these sessions. This will give you an understanding of the ethical boundaries surrounding the use of counselling. You'll further reflect on your own personal development.

You’ll learn key ideas in clinical and health psychology and how they help explain distress and wellbeing. You’ll apply theories like cognitive behavioural and biopsychosocial models to real-life cases. You’ll build skills in analysing behaviour, explore mental health experiences, and think critically about assessment and treatment.

In this module you’ll explore key areas of child development and how children grow and change. You’ll also look at differences in development and what they mean. This will help you build a deeper understanding of developmental psychology as part of your core learning.

Strengthen your counselling skills through further experiential learning and practice. You'll reflect and critically evaluate your use of counselling skills and the process. This includes an understanding of the ethical boundaries surrounding the use of those skills. You'll also explore contemporary issues surrounding the nature and delivery of counselling.

You’ll explore theories about personality, emotion, and the self, and think about the ethical issues they raise. You’ll review research, design your own study, and apply for ethical approval. You’ll also learn how to use different research methods (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed) to understand behaviour.

In this module, you’ll explore career options and gain hands-on experience in settings linked to your degree. You’ll discover your strengths, grow your skills, and apply for new opportunities. You’ll also reflect on cultural, historical, and ethical issues in different work settings to support your personal and career development.

This module gives you the opportunity to carry out an independent empirical research project. You’ll manage support, recruit participants, and collect data in line with an ethically approved project design. You’ll also prepare and analyse your data using appropriate methods, producing a written report that communicates your findings.
