Our performance and music courses are hands-on and encourage you to find your own voice through creativity and experimentation. You’ll also benefit from strong links to the theatre, television and film industries.
On our acting and music theatre courses, you’ll participate in full-scale directed productions for paying audiences at St Peter’s Arts Centre. The centre offers extensive technical and staging equipment.
- BA (Hons) Acting offers drama school-style training focused on performance for stage, screen and digital media. You’ll take part in live and digital industry showcases in Manchester and London.
- On BA (Hons) Music Theatre you'll have weekly drama school-style actor training in musical theatre skills. This includes acting, singing, dance, ensemble singing and yoga.
- BA (Hons) Sound Design is a creative hands-on experience. You'll develop your skills in creating, recording, mixing and mastering audio.
Postgraduate
Our MA Music Industry Management and Promotion course explores the music business, industry practices, business models and marketing strategies. Gain hands-on experience through real-world projects.
What can I do with a performance or music degree?
Acting graduates include Doctor Who's Mandip Gill and Coronation Street's Channique Sterling-Brown. Music Theatre graduates have achieved success in the West End, such as Bradley Judge who’s theatre credits include Hairspray and Sister Act.
Our Music Theatre graduates have also starred in touring theatre productions, in film and television and as composers, artists and business owners. Several acting alumni have formed successful Arts Council funded theatre companies.
Our Sound Design degree covers different areas of industry allowing you to progress into music production, sound design for film, TV, animation, games, podcasts, radio, audio installations, theatre and VR/AR/MR.
