Our MRes Cancer Biology gives you in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of cancer biology. You’ll also explore how new therapies are developed.

What you'll do
- As well as core lectures, you’ll be invited to attend the Postgraduate School Research Seminar Series and Research Theme days featuring both internal and visiting speakers.
- You may be given the opportunity to attend the annual Brain Tumour North West meeting, held in Preston in December each year.
- You’ll develop a range of laboratory and transferable skills sought-after by pharmaceutical and biomedical industries or required for a future career in academia or research.

Future careers in cancer biology
This postgraduate course will prepare you for further study to PhD level or a career in the biotechnology industries. It's ideal for graduates aiming to work in molecular and cellular bioscience within companies and research organisations. These organisations serve the needs of biomedical science and related disciplines.
Entry requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- A minimum of a lower second class honours degree from a UK university or its equivalent in a biological discipline, for example Biochemistry, Physiology, Biomedical Science OR A qualification or experience deemed to be equivalent to the above
- International students should have an English language qualification IELTS at 6.0 with no component score lower than 5.5, TOEFL at 600 (paper) and 250 (CBE) with a TWE of 4
- In most cases we will interview prior to offering a place on the programme
- Those applicants seeking entry with appropriate experiences will be required to demonstrate the suitability of this experience both on application and at interview
