Our Female Athlete CPD module will provide you with an evidence based, holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of the female athlete, from recreational to elite sporting environments.

Course overview

Level: 7
Delivery: Blended learning via 8 teaching days online and 2 teaching days on campus
Study mode: Part time
Duration: 3 months, teaching days are every other Wednesday and Thursday.

Module content will typically include but not be limited to:

  • Understanding female anatomy and physiology, hormones, puberty, and the menstrual cycle.
  • Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) risk factors, pathophysiology management, and rehabilitation
  • The effect of contraceptives on female athlete health
  • Return to play criteria and rehabilitation programs for female athletes diagnosed with RED-S
  • Concussion and the menstrual cycle
  • Research in female athlete populations
  • Overcoming barriers in female sport.

Entry requirements

Appropriate prior undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above in a relevant subject area will be considered by interview.
