Priority Clearing free prize draw 2025 terms and conditions

Promoter

  1. For the avoidance of any doubt, the promoter of the ‘UK – Priority Clearing Free Prize Draw 2025’ (the “Competition”) is the University of Lancashire (formerly the University of Central Lancashire) of Preston, PR1 2HE, Lancashire (“the University” or “We” or “Us”). 

Eligibility and entry limit

  1. The Competition is open to all UK permanent, and legal residents.
  2. Only one entry per individual will be accepted using a verified email address.
  3. Entrants into the Competition shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions upon entry.
  4. We accept no responsibility for any entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or cannot be delivered for any technical reason or any other reasons.
  5. Entries on behalf of another person or joint submissions will not be accepted.
  6. Please note some courses are not available for application via our ‘Priority Clearing – register your interest form’ and therefore do not form part of this Competition.
  7. Immediate family members of (meaning, spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) employees and/or directors of the University are not eligible for entry to the Competition.
  8. We are unable to accept entries from individuals who have already applied to a campus-based undergraduate degree course at the University prior to 30 April 2025 (with the exception of those who withdraw and apply for a different eligible course).

How to enter and deadlines

  1. To enter the Competition, entrants should submit their ‘Register Your Interest’ form between 9.00 GMT on Wednesday 30 April 2025 and 23.59 GMT on Tuesday 12 August 2025 (any entries received outside this period will not be accepted) and to claim their prize, must have successfully enrolled with the University on a campus-based undergraduate degree course at our Preston, Burnley or Westlakes campus by 23.59 GMT on Sunday 5 October 2025.
  2. No purchase, payment or donation of any kind is necessary to enter the Competition.

Prize draw

  1. The winner of the Competition (“Winner”) will be chosen in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The Winner will receive the following (“the Prize”):
  • 1 x University contracted Accommodation paid for 1 year up to the value of £5,000; or
  • An equivalent cash prize if the Winner is a commuting student
  1. The Winner will be chosen at random from a draw of entries received in accordance with these Terms and Conditions on Monday 13 October 2025.

Winner notifications, prize acceptance, confirmation and verification process

  1. The Winner will be contacted directly via their University email address and their personal email address we hold in our Student Information System on Tuesday 14 October 2025 to be notified of their win and to obtain further contact details so their Prize can be transferred to them. The Winner will receive their Prize after the relevant details have been passed to Us.
  2. If the Winner opts for 1 x year of University’s contracted Accommodation up to the value of £5,000, and does not already hold an accommodation contract with the University, the University cannot guarantee to provide a room in their accommodation hall of choice.
  3. If the Winner opts for the £5,000 cash prize, the University will transfer the amount via BACS payment directly to their personal bank account.
  4. The Winner must acknowledge acceptance of the Prize and provide Us with a postal or further contact details in order to claim their Prize. If the Winner does not respond within 28 days of being notified of their win, then the Winner’s Prize shall be forfeited, and We shall be entitled to select a new winner in accordance with the process set out above (such new winner shall also be subject to the obligations set out in this condition).
  5. The University does not accept any responsibility if a Winner is unable to take up their Prize for any reason.
  6. We reserve the right to substitute the Prize with another prize of similar value if the original Prize becomes unavailable for any reason.
  7. We accept no responsibility for any costs associated with the Prize that are not specifically and expressly included in the Prize.
  8. The Prize is non‐exchangeable and non‐transferrable.
  9. If the Winner rejects the Prize or their entry is found to be in breach of these terms and conditions, their Prize shall be forfeited, and we shall be entitled to select a new winner.
  10. The University reserves the right to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit of the Competition or if you are found to be in breach of these Terms and Conditions.

General conditions

  1. This Competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or affiliated in any way with anyone outside of the University.
  2. We may contact the Winner through their confirmed email address about participating in publicity related to the Competition. This may involve the publication of their name and photograph on the University website and in any other media selected by the University. If the Winner objects to their name and photograph being published or made publicly available, they can contact the University by email. In such circumstances, the Winner acknowledges that the University must still provide details of the winning entry of the Competition to the Advertising Standards Authority on its request.
  3. To the maximum extent permitted by law, We accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liability, injury, illness or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of accepting the Prize, except where it is caused by our negligence. We further disclaim our liability, to the maximum extent permitted by law, for any injury or damage caused to you or any other person relating to or resulting from participating in the Competition, as well as any computer or devices used as part of entry to the Competition. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  4. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude our liability for death, personal injury, fraud or any other liability we cannot exclude by law.
  5. We reserve the right from time to time to modify or discontinue this Competition with or without prior notice where in our reasonable opinion it becomes reasonably necessary. Our decisions on all matters under our control are final and binding and no correspondence or negotiation will be entered into regarding a decision of ours.
  6. We shall not be liable for any failure to comply with our obligations where that failure is caused by something outside our reasonable control, with the exception of the failure of our suppliers in providing the Prize.
  7. The Competition and these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the entrants to the Competition submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in relation to any claim or dispute arising out of or in connection with the Competition or these Terms and Conditions.
  8. We will process any personal information you submit to us in compliance with data protection legislation. Any personal data you provide will be used for the purposes of administering the competition, publishing entries, notifying you if you win and for any publicity purposes involving competition winners, as set out in these terms and conditions. This may involve publishing information on the University website or on social media which means it will be available to the public, worldwide. If your chosen prize is to have your University-contracted accommodation fees paid then we will exchange information with our accommodation team to facilitate this. We will use your information to contact you if you win. We will not sell your details to third parties for marketing purposes.
