Maria Katsarou
Maria combines her NHS clinical role and university teaching, specialising in adult care with a focus on dysphagia and aspiration pneumonia. With 24 years of experience, she integrates her real-world expertise into training and supervising students.
Maria holds a dual role as both a clinician with the NHS and an academic at the University, integrating her extensive clinical experience into her teaching.
With 24 years of NHS service, Maria currently works part-time as the Dysphagia Lead in an Acute setting, specialising in adult care, particularly in preventing and managing aspiration pneumonia. Maria has a rich background working with diverse adult client groups and has taught Speech & Language Therapy in Greece. She brings a wealth of expertise from supervising and training Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) students in clinical settings. Her dual role as a lecturer and practicing SLT clinician is one she finds highly rewarding.
