Fair Access Scheme

Our Fair Access Scheme recognises barriers into education and allows us to make an offer with lower entry requirements. You need to meet a certain criteria, and the scheme is only available for courses starting in September 2026 or after.

At the University of Lancashire, we are proud of our rich heritage in helping people to seize every opportunity to flourish in education, at work and for life.

We champion social mobility and constantly strive to ensure that everyone with the potential to succeed at university is able to do so. We recognise that students from disadvantaged backgrounds often face significant challenges to access and succeed in higher education.

That’s why we are introducing our Fair Access Scheme. We will take into account the challenges that students have faced in their personal and educational backgrounds and aim to provide a fairer admissions process while maintaining the academic standards that we are known for.

Our Fair Access Scheme will make sure that students are not held back by circumstances beyond their control and are able to fulfil their potential.

What is the Fair Access Scheme?

Our fair access scheme includes the following:

  • Reduced entry requirement (up to 16 UCAS points) on eligible courses
  • A range of financial support packages
  • On-course support

The financial and on-course support will vary depending on your personal circumstances.

Looking to start your studies before September 2026?

The Fair Access Scheme is only applicable to applicants starting from September 2026. If you're looking to join us any time before then, you'll want to visit our contextual admissions webpage.

How can I apply?

Submit your UCAS application and make sure you indicate whether you meet any of the eligibility criteria.

If you have experience of care, you are estranged from your family, or you are a carer, you will first receive an offer that is in line with our regular entry tariff. The Students Support team will be in touch with information about how to verify your details and once you have done this, your entry requirements will be reduced by up to 16 UCAS points (on eligible courses).
