John Tyndall Institute

The John Tyndall Institute at the University of Central Lancashire is dedicated to advancing nuclear engineering and computational mechanics.

Launched in 2007, the institute is based in Preston Campus and extends its activities to other University Campuses. The institute originated as part of the internationally recognised Centre for Materials Science. As such, it focuses on various aspects of engineering and technology and has now delved into computational mechanics. Its use in this area has evolved from simulation in nuclear-related engineering into a wider range of application areas.
