University of Lancashire welcomes new Pro Chancellor

Jon who proudly hails from Lancashire, is a University Alumni, having graduated with a Degree in Business Studies. He has been a member of the Board for the last three years and has latterly been the Deputy Chair.

Jon runs his own business consulting practice and is currently working with EdTech startups in a business development capacity having recently concluded a period as Chief Operating Officer with Worktribe, a supplier of Research and Curriculum Management software to over 70 UK universities.

Prior to Worktribe, Jon acted as Managing Director of Jisc’s Higher Education Division and led membership and the development and coordination of Jisc’s HE strategy and its implementation.

Between 2013 and 2019 Jon worked for the Tribal Group as Managing Director of the HE Business turning over in excess of £30m and operating in the UK, Australasia, North America and Asia. Jon joined Tribal from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, where he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Jon was Registrar/Secretary (Chief Operating Officer) at both the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and at the University of Warwick and has also held management, teaching and administration posts at the University of Wolverhampton and Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.

He began his HE career in Preston at the Poulton campus of the then Polytechnic in 1984. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by UMIST in 2004.

Jon said: “The University helped shape me as a person both during my time as a student here and then as a member of staff in the 1980’s.
