Creative student work in architecture, art, design, fashion and media is on public display in Preston at the University of Central Lancashire*.
The University’s annual Degree Show 2025 is a vibrant celebration of the outstanding achievements of graduating students from the School of Arts and Media. Hosted across three buildings on the University’s Preston Campus, there’s plenty to explore.
Open every weekday between Friday 6 June and Friday 27 June from 10am until 5pm, the show includes award-winning fashion designs, thought-provoking artwork, emotion evoking photography and commercially ready digital media ideas.
Mohamed Makkan from Bolton, who is due to graduate with a BA Hons in Graphic Design, has created an eye-catching app called Walk Lakes which makes planning and sharing Cumbrian walks easier for visitors who don’t know where to start. The app comes complete with a virtual backpack you can add his unique badges onto once you’ve completed a challenge such as Catbells Fell or Helvellyn.
My artwork allowed me to express my Pakistani heritage. The country is such a vibrant and colourful place and I wanted my work to clearly represent that– Fine art student Aiyra Ahmed
If losing yourself in colourful canvas paintings is more your vibe, visitors should check out Aiyra Ahmed’s vibrant memories of the Pakistani village her family originated from, a place in the world recently lost after the construction of a dam.
Aiyra from Accrington, who had never visited Pakistan before, made the two-week trip to the village of Domal to rediscover the cultural roots she’d repressed in order to fit into Western culture.
Aiyra said: “My artwork allowed me to express my Pakistani heritage. The country is such a vibrant and colourful place and I wanted my work to clearly represent that. The painting is a memory of a village now lost to the construction of the dam and one day I’d love for it to be displayed in the area it was created.”
I have an enduring love for natural forms and I’m forever collecting pebbles from beaches and leaves from my woodland walks which I want to use in the textile world.– Textile design student Katie Parker
In the University’s Victoria Building you’ll find textiles including Katie Parker’s bold designs inspired by the natural world around her. From Blackpool, Katie added: “I have an enduring love for natural forms and I’m forever collecting pebbles from beaches and leaves from my woodland walks which I want to use in the textile world. Nature is an endless source of ideas.”
The University of Central Lancashire Degree Show 2025 is free to attend and open to the public until Friday 27 June. It is exhibited in Victoria Building, Hanover Building and the Engineering and Innovation Centre (EIC).
