When you work for the University of Lancashire, you’ll be part of a thriving community of talent that’s united in a common commitment to transform lives. We do this by delivering an outstanding educational experience and creating prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing a vital part in helping us achieve our vision.

About the role:

The University of Lancashire is working with local partners to develop a modern, innovative veterinary programme, focussed on producing clinically competent, compassionate, and pragmatic graduates.

We are seeking to appoint a Veterinary Development Coach, who will contribute to delivery of our Veterinary Coaching and Mentoring Programme. The programme will exist throughout the 5 years of study, helping veterinary students to thrive whilst at university and preparing them for a fulfilling career. The programme will have three core elements: academic skills, personal development and clinical practice.

The Veterinary Development Coach will also support in-practice educators ensuring that placement providers are well equipped to provide an exceptional learning environment for our students. The successful candidates will deliver both one to one and group sessions to students as part of the delivery of the Veterinary Coaching and Mentoring Programme and BVMS curriculum.

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of coaching and mentoring and significant experience of working in a clinical or educational veterinary setting.

For this role it is essential that you are either a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) (or eligible to register with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS); or significant experience working in a veterinary educational or practice setting, or ILM Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring qualification or equivalent.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston, however regional travel is to be expected.

What we can offer you:

Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.

We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

The University is committed to providing a safe environment to study, work and visit, protecting children, young people and adults at risk from harm and abuse.
