Job details

When you work for the University of Central Lancashire, you’ll be part of a thriving community of talent that’s united in a common commitment to transform lives. We do this by delivering an outstanding educational experience and creating prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing a vital part in helping us achieve our vision.

About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a People Advisor to join our People Operations team. Here at the University of Lancashire, we strive to ensure that all colleagues feel valued and important members of the wider University community. Our colleagues play a crucial role in allowing the University to fulfil its goals.

As a People Advisor, you will provide a high-quality service to our colleagues and will be responsible for processing all aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment, new starters, leavers, contract changes and provide accurate HR advice and guidance to employees and managers on a wide range of HR issues.

The People Operations Team is a busy, customer-focused environment and this role will enable you to work co-operatively and supportively in a diverse team of professional colleagues.

About you:

You will have experience of a full range of HR processes covering the employee life cycle, of working in sensitive and confidential situations and the ability to deliver tasks within tight deadlines. This will be underpinned by good organisation skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload and manage multiple activities.

Educated to A Level standard or possessing equivalent experiential learning, we are looking for someone who is committed to the HR profession.

You will possess excellent communication skills with a highly customer focused approach and have excellent attention to detail along with the ability to build strong working relationships and work with limited supervision.

What we can offer you:

Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from 30 days of annual leave to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform. This role offers up to 2 days working from home per week.

If you would like further information on the role please make informal enquiries to Becky Crookall, People Operations Team Leader.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston, on a hybrid working basis.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

The University is committed to providing a safe environment to study, work and visit, protecting children, young people and adults at risk from harm and abuse. Our safeguarding policy and safer recruitment procedure outlines our approach, alongside other internal policies, procedures and guidance which can be found on our Safeguarding page.

Applicants applying for roles in regulated activity and that are listed as an exception under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 will be required to disclose any spent and unspent convictions and undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check at the appropriate level, the University will only ask an applicant to make an application for a DBS check if they are legally entitled to.
