About the role:

The University of Lancashire wishes to recruit a Laboratory Support Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of laboratory facilities at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting Undergraduate and Postgraduate laboratory activities within our state of the art science laboratory facilities. 

Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying a diverse range of subjects in the Science area. Although the successful candidate will be required show flexibility in supporting a number of areas, the primary function for this role will include making up solutions, setting up practical's, clearing them away and cleaning. 

About you:

You will need to be practical with a keen interest in science and technology and recent experience of working in a microbiological science laboratory environment. The successful candidate will have good organisational and planning abilities and be IT literate. 

An A Level in a Science subject or equivalent experiential learning in a related discipline will be required for this role. 

A degree of manual handling may be involved and a flexible approach is required with weekly working patterns due to the student timetable.
