Join us for a series of events celebrating Ukrainian language, culture and resilience. These events take place both online and in-person, with a range of guest speakers and experts.

The University of Lancashire has been twinned with Uzhhorod National University since 2022, as part of a UK-wide initiative to support Ukrainian institutions during the ongoing war. This twinning relationship reflects a commitment to international solidarity, resilience and the power of education in times of crisis.

The Week of Ukrainian Culture is a celebration of this partnership and an opportunity to honour Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage. It allows both institutions to deepen cross-cultural understanding, foster academic collaboration, and engage local communities in meaningful dialogue.

Through the twinning project, university pairs co-design events that reflect shared values. This year’s programme is especially significant as Uzhhorod National University celebrates its 80th anniversary. We mark not only their cultural legacy, but also their enduring contribution to global academia and their remarkable resilience in challenging times.

A wide range of events will be offered, including opportunities to explore the Ukrainian language, literature, and changes to civic life during the war. These events take place both online and in-person.

All events are free and open to students, alumni, staff and members of the community.
