In this event, Dr Laura Kelly-Corless (University of Central Lancashire) and Dr Dan McCulloch (Open University) will share key findings from research about the experiences of culturally and linguistically Deaf people after release from prison.

The event will explore their experiences of probation, community-based services, mental health services and exclusion from the Deaf community.

It will also explore the wider context of their experiences in prison, and how this shapes their post release trajectories. Laura and Dan will also present recommendations for good practice for those working with Deaf people in post-release contexts.

The event is likely to be of interest for:

  • People working within probation and the wider criminal justice system
  • Mental health professionals working with Deaf people
  • Anyone working with Deaf people in the wider community
  • Anyone with scholarly interest in Deaf studies and criminology
