Cumbrian adventurer Kate Rawles cycled the length of South America. Her Life cycle: biodiversity bike ride aimed to raise awareness of biodiversity, what it is, why it matters, and how to protect it.

About

Dr Kate Rawles is an environmental philosopher, author, and adventurer who uses bold journeys to inspire action on urgent environmental challenges.

Her latest expedition, The life cycle, saw her cycle the length of South America on a self-built bamboo bike, exploring biodiversity and its links to climate change. Traveling through diverse ecosystems, from rainforests and deserts to salt flats, she met conservationists, educators, activists, and politicians working to protect nature.

The journey left her inspired yet concerned, convinced that biodiversity loss is as critical as climate change and that deep systemic change is essential for a sustainable future.
