Humanities

The humanities subjects explore human learning, language, narrative and society. They equip you to understand how people develop and communicate, how stories and identities form, how past events shape the present, and how social structures influence behaviour and culture.

Discover the possibilities

Humanities subjects provide a rich understanding of people, culture, and society.

In Education, you’ll explore how individuals learn, how teaching can inspire change, and how inclusive approaches shape better futures.

English develops creativity, critical thinking, and communication through the study of language, literature, and diverse voices from around the world.

History investigates the forces, events and individuals that have shaped societies, encouraging you to analyse evidence, debate perspectives, and understand how the past informs today’s world.

Sociology examines social structures, relationships, and inequalities, helping you explore how culture, identity and power influence everyday life.

These subjects deepen your insight into human experience- how people learn, express themselves, and interact within complex societies. They will help you to develop analytical, reflective and communication skills valued across education, research, culture, and social policy, preparing you to make meaningful contributions to communities and global understanding.

The Spanish programme doesn’t merely teach a language; it opens doors to careers and opportunities that would otherwise remain inaccessible. I have many connections I wouldn’t have had without the language and cultural knowledge I gained with this programme.
