Brochure / Sell sheet (PDF)

University of Lancashire patented research is developing new high performance fingerprint powders. These new powders have been developed from the surface modification of silica nano particles.

These new powders provide far greater enhancement of latent finger prints compared to conventional powders. Additionally, they secure chemical evidence such as traces of drugs and gunshot residues which can be detected using spectroscopic techniques.

Background

The present invention provides fingerprint powders that, due to their hydrophobic nature and fineness, offer excellent minutiae confidence levels/rates. Furthermore the fingerprint powders preserve and retain the fingerprint residues themselves, thus allowing for forensic examination, whether immediately or following a prolonged storage period.
