Toni Edwards
Toni is a physiotherapy lecturer specialising in musculoskeletal practice. Toni has a diverse professional background across the NHS, private practice, and high level sport. Alongside academic responsibilities, Toni currently works with Manchester United Women's Team, supporting players in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of injuries.
In her role as a lecturer, she is passionate about bridging the gap between theory and practice — equipping students with the clinical reasoning, hands-on skills, and confidence needed for real-world physiotherapy. Toni integrates her ongoing work with Manchester United Women into her teaching, drawing on elite sport experience to enrich classroom learning and inspire the next generation of physiotherapists.
Toni began her career in sport with a degree in sport science and going on to work with British Rowing. She went on to support both the Paralympic team and the British Army, before deciding to retrain as a physiotherapist to further develop her expertise in performance, rehabilitation, and healthcare.
