Tom Stables
Tom is a Lecturer in Digital Marketing with expertise in consumer psychology, AI in education, and strategic communication. Drawing on two decades of industry experience, he brings commercial insight into the classroom. He is currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, and seeks to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping pedagogy, marketing, and learner engagement.
Tom teaches across undergraduate and degree apprenticeship programmes covering topics including digital marketing, consumer psychology, business strategy, and data analysis. He integrates academic theory with commercial application, promoting critical thinking, ethical awareness, and digital fluency. He is actively involved in curriculum innovation and contributes to programme validation. His teaching is informed by his research into the intersection of AI, marketing, and pedagogy.
Tom’s academic journey follows a successful career in industry, where he co-founded and led a brand and marketing agency for over a decade, delivering digital campaigns for clients ranging from local SMEs to national corporates. He has trained over 600 businesses in digital marketing and remains active in shaping the region’s creative and digital sectors.
Tom is a founding member and former chair of Digital Lancashire, which was established to accelerate the region’s digital economy. He contributed to the development of the digital and technology solutions specialist degree apprenticeship and served on the advisory board behind Lancashire County Council’s Digital Inclusion Charter. He currently serves on the board of Creative Lancashire and has held associate and guest lecturing roles across several higher and further education institutions.
