Dr Rebecca Fish
Rebecca is a Lecturer in Criminology, teaching various modules including Diversity, Crime and Justice, also Power, Violence and Oppression and Looking Beyond Crime and Criminology.
In addition to teaching, Rebecca is a feminist researcher investigating experiences of health, social care, and criminal justice systems, including institutions and their impact on understandings of gender and disability. Their PhD study was an ethnography of a women's forensic mental health service. Rebecca has studied experiences of interpersonal violence, mental health, criminal justice, and drug recovery services, from multiple perspectives. Some of Rebecca's research has been featured in international policy, NICE guidance and Parliamentary debates. Rebecca is interested in creative and inclusive research methods with marginalised groups, feminist and Disability Studies research.
Rebecca is the Managing Editor of the journal Disability & Society, and author of the 2018 Routledge book 'Locked Away: A feminist ethnography of secure wards for women.' They have presented keynotes at the Royal Society of Medicine and the Restraint Reduction Network, as well as presenting at conferences in Ireland, and Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland.
