Professor Marcello Trovati
Marcello is a Professor of Digital Transformation at the School of Business, University of Lancashire. After having obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Exeter in 2007, specialising in theoretical dynamical systems with singularities, he has worked both in R&D and academic institutions.
His major research interests focus on AI, including machine learning, natural language processing, and automated decision-making frameworks, as well as mathematical modelling. Previously, he was a researcher at the IBM Research Centre in Dublin, a professor of computer science at Edge Hill University, and a senior lecturer at the University of Derby. He has been leading the Data Science Research Centre as well as co-directing the Health Research Institute at Edge Hill University.
Professor Trovati is leading the Centre for Business Futures whose remit is to design and create significant research outputs to promote digital research in business
He has published more than 150 articles in leading technical journals, books, and conferences and currently serves as the editor-in-chief of Applied Artificial Intelligence, Taylor & Francis.
Marcello has led, or co-led, several research and consultancy projects, focusing on the applications of AI, mathematical modelling, and data science in collaboration with industrial, as well as academic, national and international partners, for a combined value of over £2M.
