Dr LJ Potter
LJ is the principal lecturer for the counselling and psychological wellbeing courses at the university, with expertise in LGBTQ topics and neurodivergence. LJ teaches and supervises students across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. LJ works in private practice as a supervisor and psychotherapist one day a week. LJ is trans (genderqueer) and has a special interest in trans peoples' experiences in counselling and counselling training.
LJ is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and focuses on academic quality across our counselling and psychological wellbeing courses.
LJ has published research in conference presentations, papers and a forthcoming book. LJ is also the editor of the 2026 special edition of the PCEP journal, focusing on person-centred student research. LJ has organised and presented at counselling conferences, as well as providing training on LGBTQ topics.
In addition, LJ is a trustee for the Person-Centred Association of counsellors in the UK. LJ is also a mentor for students on the Pink Therapy postgraduate course.
