Kirsty Philpott
Kirsty teaches on all of Physiotherapy degree programmes. Her current and previous roles within the NHS have led to her developing a special interest in cardiorespiratory care and hyperacute patient management. She is committed to preparing students to become confident, capable and compassionate practitioners in modern healthcare environments.
Kirsty's role at the University predominantly involves teaching cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and acute patient care, but she teaches a range of topics across the MSc, BSc and Apprentice Physiotherapy degree programmes.
Upon completing a BSc Sports Rehabilitation degree at the University of Salford, Kirsty went on to study MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) at the University of Essex before starting work as a Rotational Physiotherapist at both The Ipswich Hospital and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. During this time she was able to focus on developing her clinical expertise in supporting patients with cardiorespiratory conditions.
Kirsty then went on to complete her MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (pre-registration) and currently works as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner for the Acute Care Team at East Lancashire Hospitals Trust. This allows Kirsty to bring real-world experience into the classroom to help students connect theory with practice. During this role, the opportunity arose for Kirsty to work in a seconded lecturing role at the University of Lancashire, prior to undertaking her current lecturing role.
