Dr Kayleigh Cook

She has experience in Veterinary Clinical and Communications skills veterinary surgery, with experience of both clinical veterinary practice and clinical skills teaching in a university environment. She has a particular interest in surgery and a strong belief that experiential learning is key to equipping veterinary graduates with the vital skills required to prosper in their future careers.
Kayleigh is the clinical skills lead for the school and is responsible for the development of clinical skills teaching materials and assessments, across all years of the veterinary curriculum. This utilises her experience of clinical practice and previous clinical skills teaching experience.
She spent several years working as a mixed animal and equine veterinary surgeon in clinical practice in the UK, as well as undertaking an equine internship at The University of Liverpool before joining the University of Lancashire. Alongside work as a full-time equine vet, Kayleigh studied for a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in equine soft tissue surgery and a post graduate certificate in veterinary professional studies. Since joining the University, she has undertaken a post graduate certificate in academic practice and become a certified healthcare simulation educator.
