Charlotte Ennis
Charlotte joined us as a Lecturer in 2021, becoming a Senior Lecturer in social work in 2022. Charlotte is the Course Leader of the MA Social work full time and part time courses and the PG Diploma (accelerated) Social work step up to social work programme.
Charlotte's interests are in working with children and families, particularly child protection and improving the experiences of care experienced children and young people. As well as being a course leader, Charlotte teaches across a range of BA and MA Social work modules. Charlotte currently facilitates the young people's research advisory group: The smarties the ultimate researchers, working with children aged 8 - 13 to co-produce research, advise researchers on their projects and to develop resources and activities for teaching across a range of disciplines including social work.
Prior to joining us, Charlotte qualified as a Social Worker in 2008. The majority of Charlotte’s work has been within Local Authority children’s services working across Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs and Early Help services, Child Protection and Adoption, and Safeguarding and Quality Assurance. Charlotte has held social work practitioner, manager and senior manager roles prior to joining the university.
Charlotte was involved in the redesign of services to improve the experiences and outcomes of children and families including Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub and Early Help services. Charlotte was involved in the co-production of a restorative based model of practice for multi-agency practitioners working with children and families. She led the redesign of child protection conference methodology, embedding restorative practice within child protection conferences and delivered a number of development events with social workers and multi-agency practitioners, focussing on the child’s lived experience.
