Dr Athanasia Dimitriadou
Dr. Athanasia Dimitriadou is a Lecturer in Finance and Technology specializing in financial markets, machine learning, banking, and financial analysis. She holds a PhD in Finance (full scholarship), an MBA, and a Bachelor's in Economics.
Her teaching integrates real-world financial data, AI-driven analysis, and innovative learning strategies. Her research focuses on financial forecasting, market behavior, and business strategy, bridging academia and industry to equip students with both practical and analytical skills.
As a Lecturer in Finance and Technology at the University of Central Lancashire, Dr. Athanasia specialises in the integration of finance, technology, and machine learning to enhance both teaching and research. She designs and delivers undergraduate and postgraduate modules that include financial management, fintech, and financial markets. Her research explores the application of AI and machine learning in financial forecasting, predictive modelling, and market efficiency.
Athanasia has published widely in the fields of machine learning and finance, with work appearing in high-impact journals such as current issues in tourism, entropy, healthcare, SSRN, and forecasting. Her upcoming publications and ongoing projects aim to deepen the application of artificial intelligence in financial forecasting and strategic decision-making. Athanasia research aims is to further advance the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and complex networks in strategic decision-making and financial forecasting.
According to the teaching approach, Dr. Athanasia combines theoretical foundations with industry-relevant applications, leveraging tools like Thomson Reuters Eikon and machine learning software to enhance student learning. She serves as the Director of Studies for DBA students, providing active supervision and guidance on dissertation topics such as financial forecasting, cryptocurrency analysis, investment strategies, and machine learning applications in finance.
Dr. Athanasia was a Lecturer in Business and Management at Bath Spa University/GBS Manchester, where she designed and delivered undergraduate modules, including Research Project (Qualitative and Quantitative), Leadership and Management, Strategic Management, and Organisational Strategy. She supervised student dissertations, offering academic guidance and research mentorship, while also participating in curriculum reviews and enhancements.
Dr. Athanasia also worked as an Associate Lecturer in Economics and International Business at the University of Derby. In this role, she supported students' academic, personal, and professional development through dedicated tutoring and mentoring.
As a Visiting Lecturer in Finance at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she delivered guest lectures on financial markets, providing students with insights into the latest trends and developments in global finance.
