Workshops
Our workshops are designed to support creative learning, showcase the applications of art and media, and explore links to careers in the creative industries.
Workshops are available to secondary schools and post-16 providers for groups of 30 students maximum. Unless otherwise stated in the description, our workshops last four hours including breaks.
Tailored for you
All of our workshops can be tailored according to the group’s age and ability.
Printmaking
Key Stage: 3, 4, and 5
Duration: 4 hours
Max Group Size: 30
In this workshop students will be introduced to the diverse field of printmaking through work produced at ArtLab, a contemporary print studio based within Victoria building.
Techniques including lino relief and screen printing will be explored.
Sustainable textiles
Key Stage: 3, 4, and 5
Duration: 4 hours
Max Group Size: 30
This workshop will introduce visible mending techniques to lengthen the life of clothing. It challenges students to repurpose clothing to make a new garment or accessory and prevent waste.
The workshop focuses on the themes of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Your students will be introduced to techniques such as sashiko and appliqué. The workshop will conclude with a photoshoot for students to showcase their work.
Lifecycle of a book
Key Stage: 3, 4, and 5
Duration: 4 hours
Max Group Size: 30
Developed in conjunction with our publishing house, Fox & Ink Publishers (formally UCLan Publishing), this workshop takes students through the process and job roles included in getting a book on to bookshelves.
The session will include digitally designing a front cover on iPads using Procreate.
Media literacy
Key Stage: 3, 4, and 5
Duration: 4 hours
Max Group Size: 30
This workshop will teach young people to make informed decisions about misinformation in the media and give an insight in to how news stories are researched and constructed.
They will learn media literacy skills, giving them the knowledge and confidence to critically analyse media stories.
This workshop is delivered in partnership with The Guardian Foundation.
Animation
