By joining the University of Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.
About the role:
We are seeking a highly creative and ambitious Lecturer in Interior Design to join our dynamic School of Art and Media. This position focuses on teaching within our BA (Hons) Interior Design course—renowned for its graduate success and consistently high NSS scores. The course sits within a respected, industry-facing design team committed to excellence in creative education.
The successful candidate will lead modules, deliver engaging teaching, and contribute to the wider academic and administrative life of the course. This includes maintaining student records, supporting recruitment through open days and events, and offering expert guidance on progression and careers.
We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for interior design, strong communication and presentation skills, and an enthusiasm for building external partnerships that enhance student employability and the course’s profile.
About you:
The successful candidate will bring a strong background in interior design practice and experience of teaching in a higher education studio environment. You will hold undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Interior Design or a related subject and have up-to-date knowledge of contemporary interior design theory, digital and craft practices, and current software tools.
A student-focused approach is essential, with the ability to develop challenging project briefs, provide honest and constructive feedback, and support learning and wellbeing through regular tutorials and engagement monitoring. You’ll also play an active role in maintaining Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), contributing to curriculum development, and enhancing programme quality. You will be confident delivering inclusive and socially engaged design education, incorporating themes such as sustainability, ethical practice, regenerative and biomaterials, design for health and wellbeing, and emerging technologies. You will have the ability to plan and deliver studio-based teaching, seminars, and tutorials aligned with course aims and learning outcomes. You will also lead or support specific projects and collaborate with other tutors, courses and visiting lecturers.
What we can offer you:
Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.
