Module overview

This well-established module was the first of its kind and developed in collaboration with NHS England at the conception of First Contact Practice.

The module aligns with Stage 1 and Stage 2 detailed in the ‘Roadmaps to Practice’ published by NHS England. On completion you will be eligible to register with the Centre for Advancing Practice as a First Contact Practitioner.

Entry requirements

  • All Allied Health Professionals must have 5 years of post-registration experience.
  • All routes to paramedic registration are acceptable previous level 6 and 7 study is not a requirement.
  • Physiotherapists must have 5 years of post-registration experience with 3 years of musculoskeletal specific clinical experience.
  • A suitable clinical mentor must be identified prior to enrolment. The Clinical Mentor should be a registered medical practitioner or Advanced Clinical Practitioner (with at least 3 years’ experience in their role) and have clinical responsibilities within primary care. It is essential that your Clinical Mentor is identified at the start of the module. It is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate supervision from a Clinical Mentor during the module. If you are unsure about any aspect of this, please contact the module leaders. Your local primary care training hub might be able to facilitate the identification of a suitable Clinical Mentor.
