Our new vet school is the first of its kind in Lancashire and one of only two in the north of England, with state-of-the-art clinical simulation facilities and a purpose built School due to open mid-2025.
Industry-ready graduates
We focus on producing industry-ready graduates with practical, ethical, and clinical reasoning skills. Students take on practical placements at local, regional and national veterinary surgeries and hospitals from year one.
First in the world
Our university will become one of the first in the world to take advantage of a virtual dissection platform. It uses renowned veterinary Anatomage technology to help teach animal anatomy.

The School of Veterinary Medicine believes that everyone, regardless of background, has an opportunity to turn their aspirations of a career in animal care into a reality.

The School of Veterinary Medicine is training veterinary professionals through a unique integrated animal welfare-focused curriculum that combines innovative education and practical, immersive experiential learning. Our graduates will be empowered to pursue fulfilling lives within the diverse world of veterinary medicine and allied animal health. Our learning is centred on a One-Health, One-Welfare approach, recognising that there is a synergy between the health and welfare of animals, ecosystems and humans and that veterinarians play a pivotal role within this relationship.
